Double Basil Yam Fries Recipe

These garlicky yam fries are thick, rustic, and have all of the benefits of nettle and holy basil.

We believe in food as medicine, and what better medicine than an adaptogen enhanced version of the ultimate comfort food?

This recipe is also fairly flexible, if you happen to have very large yams you can always increase the quantity of your other ingredients, and if you’re planning to share your fries this recipe can easily be doubled or tripled.

You will need to following ingredients:

2-3 yams

2-3 tbsp melted butter

1 tbsp dried holy basil leaf

1 tbsp dried cooking basil

1 tbsp dried nettles

1 tbsp garlic powder

Salt to taste

Pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 400F.

Slice your yams into fries, roughly ½ cm thick. To do this, begin with your yam on its side. Cut ½ cm slices lengthwise along the entire yam. Next, stack several of the slices and slice every ½ cm in the other direction to create your French fry shape.

Once your fries are cut, add them to a large bowl and toss with all remaining ingredients.

Spread in a single layer across a baking sheet and bake, flipping your fries occasionally. Bake for approximately 60 minutes, or until fries are cooked and crispy. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
