Herbal Body Lotion Recipe

This easy body lotion recipe is a great starting point to modify and make into your own unique topical herbal medicine creation. You can use any kind of infused oil you’d like, and even add in essential oils for an extra boost.

Some of our favorite infused oils for this recipe are plantain infused oil, calendula infused oil, and our Tissue Healing Blend infused into sweet almond oil. If you haven’t made an infused oil before, see our infused oil tutorials for making cold infusion or heated infused oils before continuing.

You will need the following ingredients:

1 cup of aloe vera gel

1 teaspoon lanolin

4 teaspoons vitamin E oil

¾ cup herbal infused oil

1/3 cup coconut oil

¼ oz beeswax

Old newspapers (to assist with cleanup)

Place the aloe vera gel, lanolin, and vitamin E oil, and herbal infused oil in a blender. Next, in a pan on low heat combine the coconut oil and beeswax, stirring gently until both are fully melted.

With the blender on low, gently and slowly add your melted oils to the ingredients already in the blender, ensuring that the stream of oil pouring in is extremely thin. Once all the ingredients have been combined, your mixture will appear white. Be careful not to over-mix.

If you are adding essential oils to your lotion, now is the time to combine them.

Next, portion your lotion into jars and allow to cool before sealing and storing in the fridge.

Bonus Tip: Use the old newspapers to wipe excess lotion from your blender before washing. It makes the cleanup process significantly easier.
