How To Infuse Butter With Herbal Flavors

Infusing herbs into butter is a great way to add flavor to your favorite dishes and is easily done on a stovetop.

The first step in the process is to select your herbs. Common herbs used for infusing butter on the stovetop include rosemary, thyme, oregano, sage, and garlic. You can also use other herbs, such as lavender, basil, and dill, as well as spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.

Next, you will need to prepare the butter for infusion. Start by cutting the butter into cubes and placing it in a small pot over medium heat. Allow the butter to melt, stirring occasionally. Its important to carefully manage the temperature of your butter, as too much heat can create bring out a nutty or burnt taste.

Once the butter has melted, add your herbs to the pot. The quantity of herbs you use will depend on your desired flavor, but in general, you should use about three tablespoons of herbs for every cup of butter. Allow the herbs to steep in the melted butter for about fifteen minutes, stirring occasionally.

Once the herbs have had a chance to steep in the butter, you can remove the pot from the heat and strain the butter into a container. You can then use the butter in a variety of recipes or store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
